Grandma's House

She had a big brown house
In north Louisiana
Drove down the long driveway
And saw the pond on the left

Grandma's house
was the place we would go
for the Thanksgiving turkey and some Christmas hope

Oh, grandma's house
With a bench swing on the porch
And the wind chimes singing a melody
Of memories long before
All of those holidays
Of being at grandma's house
With her Bonhoeffer book and her Bible out

Oh grandma both of us had been to Asia
She said the one thing we had in common
Was our curiosity

At grandma's house
She'd put the French toast on the table
And we'd all sit down and eat till it was all gone

Oh, at grandma's house
With a bench swing on the porch
And the wind chimes singing a melody
Of the memories long before
All of those holidays
Of being at grandma's house
With her Bonhoeffer book and her Bible out
