My Manifest Destiny

Like a trail of clouds
Along a dusty sea
I see the wagons rolling
Manifest destiny

The people heading west
To make some land their home
But those who know it best
Know it's best just to roam

Bb d
This country's beauty
Is much too great
For just 40 acres and a mule

I have no hearth
Across this earth
But on these great plains
I'm in my home

The federals now claim it
Natives did once too
Me I never cared much
What land belonged to who

I drink when I see water
I sit down where there's shade
It ain't much but I'll tell you now
My life I wouldn't trade

We faced the dangers
The heat and cold
Not the kind of life to live
If you want to grow old

I love the sights I've seen
But not enough to stay
I will keep on heading west
Its the American way
