Ode to the Good Days

This is an ode to the good days
Showing no restraint
Thinking it's cool to try to stay up late
Before it was pretense
We called it pretend
It was a whole world that you could create
When you could spend hours
Just looking at flowers
I wonder where all of my patience went
It was magical somehow
What I wouldn't do now
Just to be a kid again

An ode to the good days
Rebellious teen phase
One that didn't seem to pass for some
Always causing a havoc
Doing anything dangerous
Whatever it takes to feel more alive
We were making our own rules
Applying to new schools
It seemed like the world was right there in our hands
Now I came to discover
What a tempting offer
That it was to not have any plans

This is an ode to the good day
When you were here with me
Instead of a 1000 miles away
I miss living so close
In bed wearing no clothes
I'm sick of always having to wait

Ode to the good days
Ode to the good days
Ode to the good days
Ode to the good days
Ode to the good days

An ode to the good days
But I need a new way
To try to carry on with my life
Cause living in stories
Can't be too healthy
Especially when they're all glorified
If I take a minute
To try and be present
There's plenty here that I have to praise
No living my past life
I only get one try
And everything is good today
