Window Seat

The sun came up as the bar let out
So I walked the block to an empty house
Waste another hour on the screen
Didn't believe the news until
The calls came in and made it real
Now I don't believe in anything

I take the window
The only seat left
To my surprise
As we take off
I lean back
Close my eyes

They said you won't feel a thing at first
But I think that thought just made it worse
Now I'm searching for the next flight out
Board the plane to fly back home
And say goodbye to a kid I'd known
Watch his parents try to do the same
Watch his parents try to do the same

I take the window
The only seat left
To my surprise
As we take off
I lean back
Close my eyes
Fall asleep for hours in the sky

Wake up over Michigan
Wake up in the cold
Wake up where you're a part of this
Wake up in the snow

Wake up over Michigan
Wake up in the cold
Wake up where you're a part of this
Wake up on your own
