Open Sign

I was headed east on old sixteen
At two AM it mighta been three and
This old ford was running on fumes
I saw a blue and red light in the distance
So I pulled up and I walked right in
I said, hey I'm glad that sign was on
If it hadna been then id be walking home

The man behind the counter laughed and said
Buddy, I sure am glad you made it here

And that sign stops people from miles around
Outta state and outta town
The good Lord knows it's getting old
And kind of dim
But as long as that blue and red light is on
Stop on in the open sign's on

The open sign is on

On

The open sign is on

On

He said I've been here all my life
My old man built this store back in forty five
He taught me quick to use a hammer
He made sure I knew the value of manners
Said son if you learn quick
How much it takes
Well this will surely be yours someday

That sign stops people from miles around
Outta state and outta town
The good Lord knows it's gettin old
And kinda dim
But as long as that blue and red light is on
Stop on in the open sign's on

The open sign is on

On

The open sign is on

On

He said a couple storms got close a good few times
It had us all scared the kids and the wife
Yeah we fixed that roof and built new tables
Country cooking out front by Miss Mabel

Ahh ohh

That sign stops people from miles around
From outta state and outta town
The good Lord knows he was gettin old
And kinda thin
But as long at that blue and red light is on
Pop's ole store is open all night long
Now that he's gone

On

Now that he's gone

On
