The Days We Left Behind

When I wan younger I thought I was invincible
We knew it never would end
We danced around and we played like we were animals
It was just me and my friends
Then we grew up fell apart and lost touch
And we talk sometimes but not much
In just the time we can find
Now we work jobs that we need to survive
Lost the things that made us alive
Find solace in the days we left behind

Oh I left my heart on the mountaintop that we used to go each year
It was freezing cold but we still stayed warm with a fire burnin fierce
I can't wait to go back again and feel the blowing wind
It's a place that we call home
All the colors of the fall
Hear the wild things call
But those times all have to end

Now we're gone and I knew all along that the memory would fade
Right the wrongs of the sad old song of the days we threw away
When we rode bikes down the bumpy street
Fell out of the maple trees
Raced down to the flowing creek where the water found its place
Spent nights catching fireflies
Watched stars shoot across the sky
Bonfires that burn so bright that the night turned into day
I miss those times
These are the days we left behind
