head/heart/head/heart

Here is my head, and here is my heart
Where one ends the other starts
Sinewy tissues, pumping together
Bleeding life through hardened leather

Still looking for a key around here
That unlocks this fleshy jail
I want to surf this mortal coil one more time before I have to bail

And I'll keep writing down my dreams
I need to find out what they mean
Tend the zen garden in my brain
It's getting harder to maintain

Here is my head, and here is my heart
Why try so hard to peel them apart?
You think that you know just the way that you work
Your machinery's cold and momentarily jerks
Searching for words right, wherever they are
Forcing and pulsing, they aren't very far

Still looking for a rope around here that can fasten and subdue
Here's hoping I don't hang myself
Pulling boy scout knots on through

And I'll keep writing down my dreams
I need to find out what they mean
Tend the zen garden in my brain
It's getting harder to maintain
