Of The Wild Things

One night in my room a forest grew and grew and grew
Until the ceiling hung with vines and the walls became the world all around
Then the ocean tumbled by
All I could see was sky
I ran away took a boat that was built just for me
I sailed away across the sea
Through the days weeks months over a year
Far away from here

They said I was the wildest thing of all
Now stop
Though I'm the king of all the wild things
It's lonely I want to be where someone loves me best of all
Then from far across this world I smelled good things to eat
So I gave up being the king of the wild things
Of the wild things

And they said oh please don't go you know we love you
So we'll eat you up I said no
And they roared their terrible roars and they gnashed their terrible teeth
They rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws
But I just waved goodbye stepped back into my boat
Sailed back over a year and in and out of weeks and all through a day

Suddenly I was in my own room again where my supper was waiting for me
And it was still hot
