Leave the Doldrums

Where you are is lovely
Can I be where you are for a while?

What you are is funny
You push and you shove me
You carpet our home with all your toys

I can see you from my seat
You're buying pints and crisps for me
It's a scene I want to freeze and stay thirsty
Forever eternity

There are things that I should know
Lay the planets in a row
That's the distance we would go
To reach the moon

There are places where we've been
Could be from something that I've dreamed
Or perhaps they were just scenes from films I know
But I've misremembered them

Scary storms rage on our sea every time we disagree
We will watch another evening hit the rocks and sink to the bottom

We send cheeky cards to made up silly names
There is beauty in the folds of the mundane
What's not to gain?

Leave the doldrums
Would it do us any harm?
Please can I be in the moment where you are?
