Starting a Fire

I asked you to start a fire
Using the same flame
I tried to drive across the state
I guess you couldn't do the same

And I know I'm not younger
No I don't have tattoos
A generation didn't seem like much
But I guess you had to choose

If innocence exists in ignorant bliss
Can someone tell me what day it is
You said let it be learn to process grief
Take all the time you think you need

I know that you're an artist
I didn't know you'd draw the line
And I'd ask for forgiveness
But I can't turn water into wine

And if you asked me to start a fire
I'd know I'd be burned
I look around and all I see are flames
A lifetime passed in a day

If innocence exists in ignorant bliss
Can someone tell me what day it is
Ya said let it be learn to process grief
Take all the time you think you need

Can it be I'm holding to maybe
Can't think of all the possibilities
So much to look forward to so much in store
I wish that it could last one day more
