Out In Society

Mother and Dad had a plan
To make me a well-rounded man
They thought I should be
Out in society
And hoped that I'd understand

From an early age I was awkward
Played a lot of online games
Never went out 'cause I was socially backward
Mom and Dad thought I should change

They made me go to this party
At the school gym lined with balloons
Did not know a soul and I needed to quickly
Escape from that gloom and doom

Mother and Dad tried to push
Getting out there was for my own good
They said I should be
Out in society
I did not agree that I should

Then that whole night changed in a second
I saw someone I had to meet
Nearly froze and when she looked in my direction
I stood there in disbelief

Her smile said there was an interest
Was crystal clear on how I felt
Something about me was joyfully different
Could not seem to help myself

Mother and Dad were surprised
That I was showing some signs
Of one who could be
Out in society
I think it just blew their minds

Suddenly, going out to places
Did not make me want to run
Cause whenever I was with you
Being out was actually fun

Oh, Mother and Dad had some doubts
But I've learned how to fit in with the crowd
They see you and me
Out in society
And Mom and Dad are so proud
