Wood Paneled Walls

I can't count the times I've said I would try to grow my hair
Until I had something to talk about
And they'd all have to care
But the starting gun went off hours ago
And I'm still at the start tying my shoes
What happened
I'm all alone
My left and right are vacant where did everybody go
It feels like I am still surrounded
But all that's left are footprints in the snow

But I'm in these wood paneled walls
Where time seems to move at a crawl
I'm fine in these wood paneled walls
Where time seems to move at a crawl

Adrianne and Alex, Jeff and Will and all the greats
Was anybody listening, or did they have to wait
Uniquely quiet voices silenced
Once again by inattentive ears
I wish I wrote it
And not them
But then again I wouldn't be here where I am
Because everything that came before me weathered beds for water to collect

But I'm in these wood paneled walls
Where time seems to move at a crawl
I'm fine in these wood paneled walls
Where time seems to move at a crawl
