Time Again?

And so it was that wicked one
With screen-burnt eyes and tainted tongue was killed
Boy how we were thrilled by the news
And we rejoiced and laughed and wept
We held our lovers and their friends alike
The final vote was cast
Gone was the last of the other side
And though nobody wondered how it all went wrong
That course was charted all along
Some succumb to that which others heap the blame upon
History repeats, the future never seems to come at all

Now in our home sweet paradise
Where every one saw equal say and right
Something did arise, a new divide
A zealot of a new complaint
Came bearing claims of every size and shape
Any argument against
Would mirror that revolution we had waged
Now presently we wonder how how it all went wrong
But of course our course was charted all along
Some fall prey to pity, others pass their pain along
History repeats, now how many times I can't recall
