Let Her Go

She's got two candles on her birthday cake
Just enough teeth to get a little taste
Frosting on her nose ain't that a perfect pose
There eight more candles up on top
Time moves fast I wish it would stop
Just for a little while so we could walk one more mile

Before long she'll be gone
Out from under my wings and on her own
And it hurts so bad that all these years have gone so fast
She'll come of age she'll turn the page
A new chapter begins while this one fades
And as a mother I know
I have to let her go

There's eighteen candles she just blew out
Hurt me the most now shes moving out
College starts this fall I won't see her much at all
And after graduation comes and goes
She'll call me up late shes coming home
To tell me the news she'll be getting married soon

Before long she'll be gone
And out from under my wings and on her own
And it hurts so bad that all these years have gone so fast
She'll come of age she'll turn the page
A new chapter begins while this one fades
And as a mother I know
I have to let her go

Before long she'll be gone
Out from under my wings and on her own
And it hurts so bad that all these years have gone so fast
She'll come of age she'll turn the page
A new chapter begins while this one fades
And as a mother I know
I have to let her go
