Getting Over Arizona

From this altitude, everything is grid-like
It's all laid out from A to B
So easy to feel removed, so easy to lose sight
There's so many places you'll never be

In the big tin bird, I spy an eagle eye view
Scanning the cracks and canyons for trace of life
For a second I swear I saw a cactus move
But it was just a cloud cast shadow, through scattering sunlight

I've seen skylines
I've followed road signs
Flying over Arizona felt like a dream

To Carefree town in an oily black endless night
Dust in our eyes, trying to track those highway lines
We drove in blind unaware of what was left or right
Woke up stunned to panorama Sonoran sunrise

A day trip North mile high the colors all explode
Brown to gold to green, to red rust clay
Corned beef hash in Jerome with those copper-toothed ghosts
Red rock Sedona, vortex energy

I've seen skylines
I've followed road signs
Driving through Arizona felt like a dream

From this altitude, everything is grid like
It's all laid out from A to B
Just took off but man I don't feel right
Getting over Arizona gonna be tough on me
