Rags To Rage

The hands of hope are taunting me
I window shop for some safety
Follow the footsteps of the rich
Leads me back to a filthy ditch
We're all the black sheep of the flock
The rain, a cold blanket of rocks
Is this what all the parents mean
By living the dream

The neon lights, muffle our cries
The ashes of burnt money fills our eyes
We share the street, the same heartbeat
But I guess I was dealt the bad hand
The sirens creep, another weeps
The white noise that drilled into our minds
It's all the same, am I to blame
Or maybe I was just unlucky

Down the alleyways painted with the blood of
Those who tried to kindle warmth with some mud
A couple pennies find the stomach of the blind the
Serotonins quick then right back to being sick
So close, yet so far away
The simple pleasures they all throw away
Destiny's stand-up routines a hit, but I don't get it (I don't get it)
