Brick and mortar and boarded up doors
Shattered stained glass confetti on the floor
A wild dove coos from the lofty decay
He's mourning a forgotten day

Bells used to ring for the Angelus
Angels would kneel when the wine was blessed
Somewhere in the shuffle of a brave new age
The faithful just walked away

And when the crowd turns its back on me
