Part Time Preacher
You know he's a part time preacher
He's a creature of his habits and his sins
He knows how to start fights easy
If you please him then it's over and he wins
He wants to do what's right for you
As long as it fits in his view
He says he speaks the honest truth
But I think that he's lyin to himself
And everybody else
Oh part time preacher
Listen to my speech
We ask you kindly
To practice what you preach
A follower of god you say you set the bar
A preacher on the weekend's what you really are
He knows he can raise his voice
He has a choice to hide his anger and his rage
If you can prove he's lying
He'll be crying like a creature in a cage
His family says he's truly good
He does the things he said he would
I don't think that they're listening
It's like they hear a siren sing it's song
And all the words are wrong
Oh part time preacher
Listen to my speech
We ask you kindly
To practice what you preach
A follower of god you say you set the bar
A preacher on the weekend's what you really are
You know he's a clueless faker
He's a taker from those who are down and out
Despite his prayers for the needy,
He is greedy yet he claims he is devout.
He promises a place for you
In heaven if you'd only do
Exactly as he says is true
But in his heart he knows he's telling lies
You can see it in his eyes
Oh part time preacher
Listen to my speech
We ask you kindly
To practice what you preach
All of your disciples fight until they're marred, but
A preacher on the weekends has no battle scars
He's a creature of his habits and his sins
He knows how to start fights easy
If you please him then it's over and he wins
He wants to do what's right for you
As long as it fits in his view
He says he speaks the honest truth
But I think that he's lyin to himself
And everybody else
Oh part time preacher
Listen to my speech
We ask you kindly
