Lighthouse

In another time, another place
A cold hard wind has worn a face
To light the coast impossible some say
Skill and sacrifice the order of the day
Thrashing the waves they scream "just try"
Holler in vain, there's no reply

Intoxicated seas and ships laid waste
The losses multiply and so begins the case
Documented by the seas in spades
And evident by the remnants that we find today
They surveyed the stone, so curious
Finding a place precarious, a lighthouse if born

I feel it washing over me
Awakening my history, feeding inspiration, now I can feel
A sense of wonder swell in me, time is flowing like a dream
Floating between land and sea

While the powers that will be, they hold debate
Keener minds they set about to demonstrate
Replacing human hands a modern scheme
Automated lights have come to watch the scene
But the legacy remains from long ago
And the elements continue to provide the show
Symbol of stone reflection of pride
Mirrors the motive, still acting the guide, still saving lives

I feel it washing over me
Awakening my history, feeding inspiration, now I can feel
A sense of wonder swell in me, time is flowing like a dream
Floating between land and sea

Shadow of what we used to be
Hollow but for the shell we see
I'd like to tighten this disconnectedness

I feel it washing over me
Awakening my history, feeding inspiration, now I can feel
A sense of wonder swell in me, time is flowing like a dream
Floating between land and sea
