Lion

We had never seen the world at night
Hand in hand we screamed at the starlight
Our hearts too young to even smile
We'd sweat away our fears for a while

We had never seen this world before
Running around but not moving forward
We'd fall down on the broken floor
Our screams as loud as a lion's roar

We'd sit around and sing together
Sit around the summer weather
And play the songs we dreamed that we could write

We would forget the songs we'd sung
But you could tell by the way we'd sing them
That we would laugh at the things we'd done
Our smiles as bright as the rising sun

But days passed by and the summer ends
I don't want to say goodbye, my best friend
But February's gone and the nights set in
And we will never see this world again

Hiding from the promises I kept but she won't know
Running from the way we felt
I never want to go home

We'd rest out heads in silly places
Backs turned against our sunburnt faces
We lay there silently
