Grow a Village

As the river flows through hills, I find myself evolving
Cutting stone, revealing life, there's changes all around me
Roots of trees, they pierce my side, the thorns they rip right through me
Stay the course, the lake below can grow, we'll grow a village

My father was a marine
But he never pushed that life on me
There's a stirring in my heart
A marching band with guns in arms

The people know what's right from wrong, their choices often prove it
Down the street, the children play, their laughter it brings courage
Dusk till dawn, we'll sing along, the voices dance round streetlights
We stayed the course, we made the most, we grew, you grew this village

My father was a marine
But he never pushed that life on me
There's a stirring in my heart
A marching band with guns in arms
