Remember the Dawn

Sprinting to the finish
Joyful smiles upon our faces
Never really thinking why the race is run
Remembering the moments
When music played and people laughed
Not reflecting on how they'll all be undone

It's not the finish but the road along the way
We should take notice how fast day transforms to night transforms to day

Soaring through the heavens
Feet and heads above the clouds
Never thinking much about how hard we'll land
Till we crash into the earth
And rise again disoriented
Wondering how much more of that we can stand

They matter not, the violent storms upon our seas
Rather, the connections that we make as we write histories

Life gives, life takes
Every day must and and night will always fall
Our triumphs and mistakes
In the end won't really matter much at all

I try to praise this mutilated world
Remembering days of bitter sunlight
Like any man who's lost and lived
Death has a plan but it hasn't worked out yet

Life gives, life takes
Every day must and and night will always fall
Our triumphs and mistakes
In the end won't really matter much at all
Life takes, life gives
Every night must stand and dawn will always come
Rejoice and live
And remembering it was slipped in we push on

Remember when perspective we push on
Dawn will come and end before too long
And when we're basking in the brightest time
Be mindful that another night will come
Another night will come
And then another dawn
Another night will come
And then another dawn

And remember the dawn
