Fragile

Day by day
Night by night
My body's been flooded
I'm falling
Out of sight

I wake up tired
After sleeping all night
I'll count my blessings like
Collecting fireflies

Digging my heels in won't break my legs
But jumping too high just might
When I fell my hardest doing what made me feel safest
I lost a little bit of my light

How do you jump into the ocean
Once you've seen sharks?
And what's there left to protect
When you can't protect the most fragile parts?

I'll still try
But sometimes, I can't hold myself
Up

Planning to plan
It keeps building up
Papers build castles around me
Now I'm stuck

I'll walk up the stairs
And sit right back down
Moving my body
Takes more effort now

Digging my heels in won't break my legs
But jumping too high just might
When I fell my hardest doing what made me feel safest
I lost a little bit of my light

How do you jump into the ocean
Once you've seen sharks?
And what's there left to protect
When you can't protect the most fragile parts?

I'll still try
But sometimes, I can't hold myself
Up
