Beach Vacation

Last year, we looked all around and gathered information
Talked with friends, and read reviews, then booked a reservation
Made plans, we jammed in a lot, with sports in moderation
Finally reached the shore so we could start our beach vacation

Waves kept pushing us backwards when we tried body surfing
Got slammed into the sand so many times our backs were hurting

Sky was cloudy, so we didn't worry about sunburn
We said no to the sunscreen, and real soon looked like red lobsters

We did what we planned to do but that led to frustration
At least surfing and sunburns were good for conversation
Thought we'd try some less demanding stuff at our location
So we just hung out trying to enjoy our beach vacation

Started carving sand castles, figured what could go wrong, when
The walls we built in the morning were wiped out when the tide swamped them

Took a net and went crabbing for small fry in the shallows
I reached in to grab one, and got bit so hard I bellowed

Next year we'll be smarter with a new appreciation
Remembering this nightmare when booking reservations
Maybe something simpler will cut down the aggravation
Mountain biking sounds much better than our beach vacation
