The Bodies

A ghostly wind rattles the window, who is at my door?
At this time of night, at this time of winter, who's here to settle the score?
A ghostly wind rattles my windows I shutter the cellar door
I answer the knock knock that sounds round the front room
He's here for my cellar room store

He's here to steal the bodies which I store in my cellar below
I can't let him take them away they're all that keeps out the snow
"Let me in I can smell where they're hiding" he rasps as he scratches his name in my door
"They're not yours anyway" and he's in, with his name in his hand, my door on the floor

The man with the name has left my house I am now alone
What will I do when next it snows without the bodies
Why did he have to take them all I wish he'd left just one
