Complexity

I read all about the world outside
It seems like a small place to my finite mind
But if all the stars in the sky were sheets of paper
We wouldn't have space to describe

The world is, in truth, a fractal
Patterns existing within and without
Up to the scale the size of galaxies
Down to the size of the pixels we can't count

Infinite data, or as close as we can get
To simplify our life, a necessary debt
But we have our choices, to accept the clarity
Or to look to the edges, understand complexity

And down in the middle, is where we live
Halfway between the big and the small
But here in the middle, a slice of that same view
A snapshot of the complexity of all
