Cricket Orchestra

Every night in my backyard they will gather for a pomp
They tune before my window as the daddy long-legs stomp
See them dress in three-piece suits full of elegance and style
Please notice their proud manner as they march in single file

They play a lullaby every summer night
As I lay myself to sleep
I say my prayers to their overtures
Which through my open window seep

Their scores are quite imposing when the hundreds of them play
They will fiddle through the night till the sunshine greets the day
I will sleep a peaceful night when they play for me my score
I fall asleep listening and awaken wanting more

They play a lullaby every summer night
As I lay myself to sleep
I say my prayers to their overtures
Which through my open window seep
