Past Days

Man, just thinking back
To those days when we were kids
All the memories
Life was simple back then

Let's take it back to those early days
Supersoakers getting sprayed
The daily task was just to play
Not worried about how the bills is getting paid
At that age, I didn't care about how money got made
Instead nervous, talking to honies around the way
Asked for her digits in the summer's sunrays
I called that night but then I hung up afraid
In those days, I didn't care about my grades
Usually C's is what report cards would say
No focus in class and had trouble in math
I found my path in English 'till I mastered the craft
My first passion besides those girls in the hall
Passing notes, found my voice through the quotes
Through the pen lines I spoke
It gave me a taste of hope
When the teachers read my poetry they noticed me
No longer just some kid that was hopelessly
Scoping clocks waiting for the bells to ring
A new path was started
Now I'm 32 with my own apartment
Looking back at the past sometimes the hardest
I miss that foundation that we had back then
Just reflecting with a pad and a pen
Till my last day
Damn, I miss those days
