Our Best, I Guess
Daisy went to the boardwalk
She couldn't get any sleep
Too late for her to realize
She was already in a dream
Hit the beach at eleven
Bucket and board in hand
Not quite sure how it got there
Some things we'll never understand
Ocean looked so inviting
Waves beckoned her in
Too late for her to notice
She trapped herself within
Daisy tried to escape when
No one heard from the town
Struggled hard as she could but
The water filled her up as she drowned
There's no way to know
When it's our time to go
There's no way to guess
At least we tried our best
I guess
Noah loved constellations
He got lost in the stars
Found himself back awake and
Walked himself to his car
There was no destination
Speed limit sixty five
Took the toy to the highway
Still don't know if he survived
Faded road it was empty
Seven lanes all for one
Turned around for the hell of it
Noah decided he was done
Took his time back to jersey
Just made it into town
Windows cracked for the breeze but
Noah thought he heard a sound
There's no way to know
When it's our time to go
There's no way to guess
At least we tried our best
I guess
Daisy floats like driftwood
Almost gone as she cries
Still confused, is she dreaming
How does this happen, and why
A car stops from the street now
Single figure afar
Noah's come all this way he
Looks up at all of the stars
In the oceans reflection
There's someone else by the sea
He didn't know it then but
Her name was Daisy
Ran to shore from the dunes and
Laid her down in the sand
Was there coming back from this
Noah couldn't comprehend
And he'll never know
When it was her time to go
And he'll never guess
At least he tried his best, I
At she tried her best I guess
At least we tried our best
I guess
She couldn't get any sleep
Too late for her to realize
She was already in a dream
Hit the beach at eleven
Bucket and board in hand
Not quite sure how it got there

At she tried her best I guess
At least we tried our best
I guess
