Longest Friend to Date
Maybe this is the start of a new ritual
Call on the phone talk for an hour hope I'm not difficult
To have a conversation with because I can't get her off my mind
So remind me of the time we wandered around our town in the pouring rain
Not quite friends can you remember those days?
When the woods felt endless and we'd burn our papers at the start of the summer
That was before I even loved her
It was love in a different language
It helps to remember that that still exists
When I turned fifteen we took the bus to your street
Couldn't stop laughing as we laid in the leaves
And even though you're not as easy to see now I still feel the same
Maybe that's why you're my longest friend to date
Twenty fifteen we're at the beach and the water is rough
We watch the waves can't help writing some melodramatic stuff
Like I've been down this road before and I've survived it every time
Just repeating cliche lines
Might as well use one now
I don't know where I'd be without you
So remind me of the time we tried listening through the walls of our hotel
I tried to fill everyone in
The prank calls we did on
We'd bike to the playground laughing
And we found some tickets to cash in
On the boardwalk
It was love in a different language
It helps to remember that that still exists
When I turned fifteen we took the bus to your street
Couldn't stop laughing as we laid in the leaves
And even though you're not as easy to see now I still feel the same
