Bones in the Peat

The gannets float off the cliff and I
Am afraid that I want to join them there
At the bottom where the waves and rocks meet
A dozen yards from shore; you'll find me wrecked for want of land

The voice at the back of my head was screaming louder
Than the rain that was battering down
And the ghostly blades of the wind turbines
Cut through the mist like a knife

The sign over the door said 'come all ye faithless'
And I know I have my doubts
About transubstantiation
But it's better than getting wet

You know what it feels like?

I never learnt to fall for You
What can I offer you, more than You already have?
I'll dance alone over the waves
What will be left when only my bones remain?

I am faithless
And I have my doubts
