When you try to be the greatest
What happens when you can't afford the latest?
Your daily dancing to the deception on Satan's playlist
Got 'ya shakin' and stressing 'cus
Watching how God's been blessing others got you complaining
What happens when art hates the way it was painted, or-
Someone catches you faking, slippin' and eating pavement?
Hmm, or let's see, what if jealousy has you-
Hatin' your homey simply for the woman he's dating?
What happens when you feel less than perfection (What happens)
What happens when you don't mess with correction?
Lust has you enslaved to affection
But responsibility is more than protection
What seems to be happening is a resurrection
Of a villain with a venomous projection
Which made a connection to your heart from its conception
Causing you to idolize your reflection (Uh)

Many things that we do for love are
Just for us and our validation
But we hurt the ones that love us the most
Chasing after false affirmation (And they say)
