When Weary (Zechariah 11A)

When the glorious trees are burning
For their doors are opened wide
When the cedar, oak and cypress smoke
Strength sapped by judgement's fire

When the young lion's roaring
For their ruined pride
When the powerful are broken
His strength is in the quiet

When my soul is weary
Weary with Him
When I can find nothing in me
Worth anything to give
When all that's in the world outside's
A reflection of within
Even if His pity leaves me
I have nothing left but Him

When the shepherd's sell the sheep to slaughter
Dare to praise The Lord
For stolen wealth from betrayed brother
Death is their reward

When the flock repay their foolish leader
Scrambling for power
When the people fail to heed His warning
Watch out for the hour

When my soul is weary
Weary with Him
When I can find nothing in me
Worth anything to give
When all that's in the world outside's
A reflection of within
Even if His pity leaves me
I have nothing left but Him

When I'm laid out in grief or pain
When all my strength is gone
When the words I find upon His page
Are nothing that I want

When He chooses silence
When I can barely speak
Till His glory shines in violence
And men fall at His feet

When my soul is weary
Weary with Him
When I can find nothing in me
Worth anything to give
When all that's in the world outside's
A reflection of within
Even if His pity leaves me
I have nothing left but Him
