Paradise

Peace, Love, and Nappiness
Taino Ti

A lot of times I reminisce bout memories I never lived
I picture what the planet looked like if they never left they ships
And landed on the shores of our beaches with their Guns and swords
And cattle with diseases and their lips with open sores
I like to picture the Taino sending boats back in the water
Never learning bout the Holy Spirit, Jesus and his father
What would Earth be like if we never got certain germs from whites
Or Columbus was murdered in the ocean from murky tides
I
Often daydream bout the life I could have lived in paradise
But instead I'm in the timeline
Where Europeans terrorized
And killed off most my people
I wonder what it's like
To have a history to learn that doesn't make me cry
I
Ponder bout the progress of my people
If they weren't interrupted by being murdered and hunted
It's like a giant curtain over my eyes that I'll never peak behind
Coulda lived in peace with nature
Naked, speakin' with my tribe
But instead I'm in the ghetto
Where we beat and brutalize
One another cuz of hunger
We in need of dollar signs
God Is white no god in sight
My Mommas right we need assistance
Everything is vicious wish one day
I'll close my vision then when I open it's different

I wanna go back
Back to the Paradise
I wanna go back
Back to the Paradise
I wanna go back
Back to the Paradise
I wanna go back
Back to the Paradise

Cuz we ain't neva ask for the pain that they gave
Nah
We ain't neva ask for the hate that they gave
Nah
We ain't neva ask for these graves for these graves
Nah
We ain't neva ask for this pain for this pain
Nah
Cuz we ain't neva ask for the pain that they gave
Nah
We ain't neva ask for the hate that they gave
Nah
We ain't neva ask for these graves for these graves
Nah
We ain't neva ask for this pain

When I look through lookin glass
I can look into the past
Back to when my people lived freely
Hidden in the trees in the leaves
With the sun on they skin and they pellos in the breeze
But that's all inside my head
We in prison or we dead
Or in Debt cuz of the fees
Or in class learnin bout some crackers tryna get degrees
We been bleeding because of greed
I'm so scared to bring a seed, in this world, what will it be?
What kinda planet will it see?
Surely not the one it's sposed to be
This Earth look torn and tattered
And it shouldn't
Mother Natures like a battered woman
We got her out here looking defeated
The forests depleted
The seasons ain't even being normal
There's a disturbance
We're in a state of emergency
Which only makes me wonder more about what the universe turned to be
Like what would life be like if we was never colonized
That's all that's ever on my mind what if we was never colonized
Wish we was never colonized

I wanna go back
Back to the Paradise
I wanna go back
Back to the Paradise
I wanna go back
Back to the Paradise
I wanna go back
Back to the Paradise

Cuz we ain't neva ask for the pain that they gave
Nah
We ain't neva ask for the hate that they gave
Nah
We ain't neva ask for these graves for these graves
Nah
We ain't neva ask for this pain for this pain
Nah
Cuz we ain't neva ask for the pain that they gave
Nah
We ain't neva ask for the hate that they gave
Nah
We ain't neva ask for these graves for these graves
Nah
We ain't neva ask for this pain for this pain
