Wooden Bones

He was a scarecrow scaring himself the most
Embedded in silence faithful to his post
She was a sparrow thriving alongside her flock
But once in a while, she would just watch them take off
Like the morning she found him caught in that same old view
His looks weren't frightening cause somehow she saw straight through

She figured his shoulder had been vacant for too long
He felt a sudden warmth inside his wooden bones
And when her voice started singing he secretly hummed along
And for a few moments the field was a perfect home
So on the morning she found him caught in that same old view
He gave up on hiding and gave in to something new

But in some of these stories, there's a limit to the magic spell
She told him of the ocean but could only go by herself
And today he is busy dreaming of her
