Zealots

I took to sleeping in on sundays
Because i wanted to forget
The times i came up empty handed
From violence that i fed

I see the sunbursts flying
Every single hour of every day
The night transforms into the clearest day
It washes away

Nobody wants to see
The image of a good man fade
But when the lights come on
You're pushing them away all just the same

Evil begets evil
But only 'cause the zealots pray
Their hell raises above them
And brings us to their plane
Ignorance is bliss
Is what the strongest people say
But when the cold comes through
I know myself
Better than you

I took to sleeping in on sundays
Because i wanted to forget
That the holy men among us
Will never break our bread

When you find yourself
On beaches of a blood-red sea
They'll come for us
Their limerick saying
It's on you and me

The sun will rise tomorrow
The birds will surely sing
But any given moment
We'll no longer be a thread in the string

Evil begets evil
But only 'cause the zealots pray
Their hell raises above them
And brings us to their plane
Ignorance is bliss
Is what the strongest people say
But when the cold comes through
I know myself
Better than you
