Butterfly

A garden full of tall trees
Yet you lay curled in a corner
Under a half bitten leaf
Shading away from brightness
Butterfly, you took shelter under my wings
Butterfly, we built a pupa just for us
Then one day you went into the bright
You liked the sunlight better than my shadow
Butterfly, was it always you
Or did you lose your feet to fly into the mighty blue
Butterfly, was it always you
Or did you lose your feet to fly into the mighty blue

They say blood is thicker than water
But the rivers carried you away
Away from the orchard I nurtured you in
I would turn this world into our cocoon
But your world is a world for one
I knew one day you'd go into the bright
But you'll come back
Someday when you know that
Butterfly, you'll take shelter under my wings

Butterfly, home is where you find yourself

Butterfly, together we will fly
Rainbow up every dark night sky
