We sleep in fissures under the water
Until we surface to ride the wave
But still the shoreline ever escapes us
So we submerge back from whence we came
Destined to faulter between the sidelines
In plain sight our transgressions display
In open high tide they watch us reaching
But when we sink, we can't see
The ocean for what lays beneath

We build from below
Let the record show
Every step to the edge
Is a siren to those who see

How we are hopeless at all the right times
God knows we'll give if there's one thing wrong
Though nihilistic as we may all be
We know the need for more runs strong
We'll chase the spirit of something greater
And when the time comes, embrace the flood
Nothing to grip here, control's a fable
To show there's no real hold
When your dragged from the depths to air
