Crux

We covet this rare green hue
Here at the farthest point from home
It's the very last shade we've left to view
In the all singing, all dancing humdrum

Deriving from antiquity infinite
A venomous realm of twilight

Most of the time I only wish to feign
Something that everyone will revel in
No fixed address or hat to hang
So take me where the incline is leveling

Cos I found I was not yet prepared
For this proximity of others
& I might have a lingering grudge to bear
From such toxicity of brotherhood

Let's glaze over every sacramental thing
That pulled & severed our strings

I hallucinated a crystal crucifix
In some imagined bedroom
Maybe it was the unintended effect
That false ideation led me to

I will try not to waste my words
Amid this vast & chaotic system
But when we're no longer feeling safe & moored
You probably won't really miss them
