Crystal Wheels

The room was so much brighter than the day
But it did not hurt my eyes
I couldn't think of anything to say
So I quietly analysed

I was aware that there were wheels within the wheels
Each wheel a colour unlike the next
I heard a voice somewhere to my left
He spoke of endings and the need to reflect

I wasn't ready to take his hand
I could feel my body fighting for its life
I asked if there was anything that could be done
He said maybe son, yeah he said maybe son

I'm negotiating

It's a conversation
I'm trying to cut some sort of a deal
He seems very insistent
I refuse to go without a fight
This is my very existence
I will not step into the light

I turned so I could look him in the eye
He said I didn't really have a choice
I told him I'd like to see him try
He never blinked but he did start to smile

He told me an arrangement could be met
If I could just be a better man
He said there were so many battles still to be won
