Physics Lecture of Love

The human race; two baboons masturbating at the back of a physics lecture
They may ruin the upholstery but you have to appreciate the gesture
They do their best to ignore whatever the professor says
Their pleasure is in the stains they leave, not the theories he presents
That's just one of many things about the audience he resents
And he knows that if they fall in love it's him cleaning up the mess

If I can't get medical attention then an energy drink will do
In lieu of future investment then a scratch card or two

You can find me visiting the junk-yard, I should be in an operating theatre
'One small favour,' sure man, whatever, 'make sure you bring a stretcher'
For our hopeless race to the bottom will be someone's way to the top
Let us take in the cemetery lights on a February night off
And there our unspoken words can be given to a corpse
Speaking to the dead is the closest thing to honest we can afford

If I can't get medical attention then an energy drink will do
In lieu of future investment then a scratch card or two
In the queue with a shoebox and a development pitch
They say hard work ain't a lottery but who benefits from it is
Have to gamble irresponsibly if you want to a chance to win but
Old dreams can make good memories only the sentient can sing

The human race; two baboons masturbating at the back of a physics lecture
They may ruin the upholstery but you have to appreciate the gesture
They do their best to ignore whatever the professor says
Their pleasure is in the stains they leave, not the theories he presents
That's just one of many things about the audience he resents
And he knows that if they fall in love it's him cleaning up the mess

If I can't get medical attention then an energy drink will do
In lieu of future investment then a scratch card or two
In the queue with a shoebox and a development pitch
They say hard work ain't a lottery but who benefits from it is
Have to gamble irresponsibly if you want to a chance to win but
Old dreams can make good memories only the sentient can sing
