True Love

I keep forgetting to fall in love
It's been on my bucket list for too damn long
I get started, but I don't know how to recognize the signs
And I'm worried that if I don't catch up soon
I'll never truly be alive

I think that I know what it is I really want
A picnic on a sunny beach with someone
A feeling I learned second-hand from Instagram stories
Something I felt once but would never dare repeat

But if something like that can be forced
There'd be no need for divorce
Or dating apps

If only you could bottle up
The transitory flow of love
Once it's gone

I keep forgetting to trust myself
To just be grateful for the love I have around
I get started, but inadvertently I start to see a light
And it leads me to a cave
That is better called a grave
And supposedly that's where true love is found
