The Bay

The day it came up from the bay
Arms open wide and teeth all bared
It looked like it had something to say
But, with eyes that bored inside, it only stared

Then it dragged you down to the weedy depths
And I'll not see you again, I'd bet
But when it returns, on your ghost, I swear
I'll beat it to death with my hands bare

The day it came up from the bay
And took from me my only hope
There was something I had wished to say
But it gripped my neck and stopped my throat

Then it dragged you down to the weedy depths
And I'll not see you again, I'd bet
But when it returns, on your ghost, I swear
I'll beat it to death with my hands bare
