Plant a Garden

This world and it's problems, are too big for me
I'm just a drop in the bucket, and my hands are weak
I've stressed and I've wrestled
Lost nights of sleep, over things far beyond my control and my reach

I remember you growing flowers, and showing me how to care for the dirt
You said, "Trust me when I say"
"If the world goes the wrong way"
"Beauty will save the earth"

So, I'll plant a garden of flowers, and things that will bloom
Tend to my yard, and in time, I'll taste of its fruit as my act of resistance
I'll work with persistence, and care for my neighbors too
I'll plant a garden, like you taught me to

I've heard rumors of war, and bombs in the night
They say they're conspiring to get us
And maybe they're right
But God only knows when the day or the time
When we'll all face the curtain, to say our goodbyes

I remember you told me of flowers growing through cracks of war torn streets
You said, "When there's chaos around us"
"To care from the ground up"
"And keep growing beautiful things"

So, I'll plant a garden of flowers, and things that will bloom
Tend to my yard, and in time, I'll taste of its fruit as my act of resistance
I'll work with persistence, and care for my neighbors too
I'll plant a garden, like you taught me to
Oh, oh, oh, you taught me to
Oh, oh, oh, oh

I remember you told me that there is only so much that we can bear
You said, it's better to live simple
To let your world get little, and care for the people there
