Down here with the majority
Down here we don't have a say
About what the government does

Down here you work all day
Down here for a measly pay
That's always barely just enough

And again the headline reads crisis
Trillions are pumped down the drain
But not a single cent of it
Is used for our benefit
And at the end my account is in the red again

So down here everything's the same
Down here we don't see no change
And down here forgotten and unseen
Is where we're most comfortable for them

Down here they do need us
Down here in the mud
So they don't get dirt on their shoes

Down here we all complain
Down here about a lack of change
But action's only embraced by the few

Just imagine we all pulled together
A united effort on the same rope
Then the walls they hide behind
Would no longer leave them blind
And our plight would be directly in their sight

Can no one see an alternative to this
There's got to be a better way
No matter what they preach
It's high time they reach
Their hands to us down here
Cause once common ground is rotten
Then the down-trodden
Will find no peace down here
No peace down here
