Sow a Lonely Note

I sow a lonely note in hope
That someday it'll grow
And then I can replant the seed

I've dug my whole life in soil
made of all I can be
And watch myself grow

But the flowers will they be seen
And the fruits will they be sweet
I may never know
At least while they grow
But I'll keep on watering every day

I left out my dreams in sun
Thinking all the work was done
And watched as they started to wilt

The garden became so still
