Perks Blvd

Last night I dreamt Smokey the bear
Quit his job like he couldn't care
He just chuckled chucking sticks at his funeral pyre
Saying no one will prevent this forest fire
As flames flew from my front yard
I saw my brother's car back on the boulevard
And I hate to say it but I think it's fate
This burning out in New York State

Sweetly and slow the maples sway
As the ATVs all sound away
As I'm bored on the porch
As per my habit
As Sammie says Collin, no, you are not your sadness
Yeah she's been busy in the city working public health
Now she gets home and has to worry I don't care for myself
At the pity party, I'm sleeping on the couch
Living with my partner in my parents house

So tonight I'll see Smokey the bear
He'll ash his spliff on a stump and I won't even care
Cuz no matter what I'll wake up sweating, prolly out of breath
And when I get to work I'll already be upset
Cuz I'm like a zombie, my rotting body's so slow to act with
Set off defensives, feral and Fit to attack
A gnawing hunger that's humming under
I'm seeing stars then
Waking up at my desk from Perks Boulevard

Sweetly and slow, her hips will sway
In the night silver light her skin shines grey
As we hold the wall to cut the squeaking out
Sleeping with my partner in my parents' house
28 at home, Sammie I feel your pain
To believe the lie so you can act the same
At the pity party, you're sleeping on the couch
Living with your partner in his parents house
