I have paid a heavy price
For ignoring who I am
Now you won't catch me again
Forgetting myself, losing myself
Twisting and contorting my shape
To fit a framework
That was never meant for me out of some misplaced duty
I would lie to myself, about myself

It buzzes frantic in my head
And it wreaks havoc in my chest
It's all teeth and clawing its way out
And leaving me in shreds
There's no escaping its power
You either open or die
There's no denying it's presence
When it descends tonight

The audacity to ignore
To piss on, to hide from
The living breath of the divine
Coursing through you, animate you
The arrogant child, the broken man
The lost boy
The vacant stares and losing touch
Becoming void
