Terlingua On My Mind
We spent the week in Palo Duro we hiked and saw the stars
There was beauty all around us but I dreamt of a place afar
We headed up to Santa Fe the mountains were sublime
But it was bittersweet ecstasy with Terlingua on my mind
I've drifted rivers and the streams
I've seen the best of many dreams
Take me where the dirt road winds
I've got Terlingua on my mind
We set shore out of Venice port
We had eyes on tuna and a sword
Where the Mississippi winds and forks I lost my place in time
And when the boat hit a bar and stuck we took to our deities for good luck
But the strength to pull came from a tug and my interests realigned
I've drifted rivers and the streams
I've seen the best of many dreams
Take me where the dirt road winds
I've got Terlingua on my mind
The dessert sings an honest song and let's the rain wash away it's wrongs
Survivals earmarked for the strong but it changes come nighttime
And the mountain whispers an honest lie and takes its toll on the older guy
But it remains when the others die and in the distance seems divine
I've drifted rivers and the streams
I've seen the best of many dreams
Take me where the dirt road winds
I've got Terlingua on my mind
Yes I've drifted rivers and the streams
I've seen the best of many dreams
Take me where the dirt road winds
I've got Terlingua on my mind
Oh I've got Terlingua on my mind
There was beauty all around us but I dreamt of a place afar
We headed up to Santa Fe the mountains were sublime
But it was bittersweet ecstasy with Terlingua on my mind
I've drifted rivers and the streams
I've seen the best of many dreams
Take me where the dirt road winds
