Set in Stone

Close my eyes to dream and
All that's there is the past again
No matter my state of mind
Place in time, it's my Vatican
Question my person, my purpose
Why is this happening
Analyze my past
Just so I can guess the end
Slippery slope with misery most
Many things to change
That these hands aren't meant to mold
My past I now look on is dead and cold
The foundation for my life to unfold
Set in stone

Around me were mountains that
Shaped a cradle that my young-self held
Would've doubted at the time that
A fable be made able for me to fit into a so-called meld
But as I ponder, over yonder, a sense of sonder
Comes upon where I have not delved
A life split into two, only happy in unison
Is something that I have not felt

Sharing time with two faces, an arrangement
Placate who they say, is amazing
Train to locations set away from
Great Lakes at a young age had made me

A solo pilot and ahead of the competition
Problem being there were no keys inside the ignition
Floating through air flying like it's my mission
Panicked as I shout covering up my vision

Close my eyes to dream and
All that's there is the past again
No matter my state of mind
Place in time, it's my Vatican
Question my person, my purpose
Why is this happening
Analyze my past
Just so I can guess the end
Slippery slope, with misery most
Many things to change
That these hands aren't meant to mold
My past I now look on is dead and cold
The foundation for my life to unfold
Set in stone

Started seeing from the outside, feeling in my mind
That something was different
Met new faces but was yet amazed that on my bestest days
I found something still missing
With a few moves and a multitude
Of new faces met along the way
I'd grow numb to the thought of having a connection
Lasting longer than a winters day

Sharing time with two faces, an arrangement
Placate who they say, is amazing
Train to locations set away from
Great Lakes at a young age had made me

A solo pilot and ahead of the competition
Problem being there were no keys inside the ignition
Floating through air flying like it's my mission
Panicked as I shout covering up my vision

Close my eyes to dream and
All that's there is the past again
No matter my state of mind
Place in time, it's my Vatican
Question my person, my purpose
Why is this happening
Analyze my past
Just so I can guess the end
Slippery slope with misery most
Many things to change
That these hands aren't meant to mold
My past I now look on is dead and cold
The foundation for my life to unfold
Set in stone

A shift in perspective, when my settings changed
Incubated in suit of hatred trying to mend the pain
Hopeless in my solitude, not wanting to bend but break
Denial of situations and mad against the outcome
Looking for some change only getting back no bread crumbs
Melancholy wave where I finally succumb
Welcoming the water but it's time to over come

When the actions of the past lay dormant and wilting
Been ignored cuz of guilt, embarrassment, and nor-willing
To face the music that behind and cordially
Accept what has happened is building and forming me
Next is the step of learning what's best to know
Utilizing lessons and messages yet unknown
Past I know look on is dead and cold
The foundation for my life to unfold
Set in stone
